How to figure out wether a scissor is left handed or right handed. Lay the scissors flat on the desk. For right-hand scissors, the top part of the scissors will have the blade on the left side and the grip on the right side, whereas for left-hand scissors, the top part of the scissors will have the blade on the right side and the grip on the left side. Turning the scissors around or up-side down won't change this relationship.

If the cutting edges are pushed away from each other, the material being cut slides in between, and is not cut properly. Since the left hand is a mirrored version of your right hand, the scissors should be `mirrored' as well. This is why the cutting edges are made on the opposite side of each part, and the parts are assembled just the opposite way, making a perfect left-handed scissors.

On a right-handed mug, the images or slogans are towards the person when the mug is held with the right hand. The left-handed mugs have images or slogans towards the person when the mug is held with the left hand.

A fun gift for left handers is a left-handed watch or left-handed wall clock. The hands turn anti-clockwise and the numbers are numbers are backwards. However, left-handers seem to read it easily.

The numbers on right-hander tape appear upside down when a left-hander uses it. The left-handed tape corrects it by numbering the tape appropriately.
